Sharing the Stories
that Shape Legacies
First Story Strategies began in 2016 to help nonprofits, member-based associations, small businesses and individuals tell their stories through communication services such as strategy development, video production, writing, editing, graphic design, media coaching, event management and more.
Along with its partners, First Story has supported such clients as Chicago Public Schools, Aunt Martha’s Health & Wellness, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Association of Defense Communities, and others.
Its founder, Randy Ford, grew up in East Tennessee, where the culture is steeped in centuries of traditional and personal storytelling. He drew on that background when he began his career as a radio journalist covering how public policy affects people’s lives. He then spent 10 years working for a member of Congress, first as press secretary then chief of staff.
Randy is a senior advisor at LRG Public Affairs, which serves government, nonprofit and association clients. LRG team members across the country include nonprofit and association consultants, organizational development leaders, video producers, content developers, event managers, community and workforce development advisors, sponsorship and membership representatives, and others.
Randy performs in personal storytelling shows in the Chicago area, where he’s based. He co-hosts Do Not Submit Lakeview, a community-based storytelling open mic.
